The secret of contentment starts with the truth that God has set a table before us.  David new this truth, Psalm 23:5 “you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies” and God has revealed this truth to all of mankind though Jesus.  The table was set for all people to come and eat when Jesus was born, Luke 2:30;31 “for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all people”.  God has prepared the table for all to come and eat from Him.  In the presence of all people Jesus was born and walked on the Earth.  People who came to Him were satisfied but others would walk by Him, not even noticing His presence.  God continues in every moment to prepare a table for all people, as Jesus continues to walk in the presence of all people.  No matter if we are being surrounded by the worst circumstances, we can conjure up, or if we have made the worst possible decision, we can think of making, God has set a table before each one of us.  It is receiving this truth in the midst of not feeling like we can or are worthy of it, that we can find ourselves being served and fed by the king of kings.  God has set a table before you and He is burning with a desire for you to pull up a seat and to eat all that He has set before you.  He wants you and me, right now, to pull up a seat and sit and at the table He has set before us in the midst of all people and circumstances.

This is not an easy step because it is a step of faith and requires trust because of the vulnerability it demands, but it is what prepares our hearts to receive who He is.  The table is set by God and to sit at His table to enjoy His presence, is what God longs for us to respond to, at all times in all circumstances.  Take this time, as the table has been set before you, and say yes to His desire to sit and eat at the table, not just in the midst of people and circumstances but greater then this, in the midst of His presences.  He wants to eat with you and provide for you.  We may find ourselves to be broken, hurt, ashamed but He still desires each one of us to join Him because it was for you, that He has set the table.  Let Him finish what He has begun and let Him lavish you with goodness until you overflow with gladness as His presence heals and restores your heart and soul.
